Work in progress: DML 1/72 King Tiger Porsche Turret

I just finished setting up my modeling room so I couldn’t wait to get started. I thought I’d start with a “small” project, so I picked the 1/72 King Tiger I had lying around. The small project became a bit of a challenge when I remembered all Porsche turret units had zimmerit on them. I have never done zimmerit on any scale, but 1/72 represents a challenge. I read a technique using a strip cut from the side of a CD case in “Modeling the Panzer IV in 1/72 scale”. Lots of patience and maybe luck and I have done the zimmerit for two surfaces. Apart from that only the wheel array has been finished. The end result below.
